Our February N&G Book Club Pick was Under a White Sky: The Nature of the Future by journalist Elizabeth Kolbert. I’ve seen several documentaries Elizabeth has been featured in, and I’m dying to read her best-selling book, The Sixth Extinction, which won a Pulitzer Prize for non-fiction in 2015. Her new book, Under a White Sky, touches on many of the same themes, including showing readers a variety of specific environmental crises around the world. She also delves deep into how communities worldwide are attempting to save the ecosystem from our impacts.
I really enjoyed talking to Elizabeth. It’s admirable how she uses herself as a guinea pig in her journalism to get to the truth. And I love that this book is about such a serious topic, with much to unpack, yet she’s so funny. She makes a sobering, daunting topic quite fun.
I hope you’ll watch our full conversation in the video below. And then pick up a copy of Under a White Sky if you haven’t had the opportunity to read it yet.
