Lisa Taddeo is one of my favorite authors. It’s honestly because of her that I started the N&G Book Club, complete with author discussions. I read Three Women and was so excited and empowered. Not only did her book come at the right time for me to do some deep soul-searching and digging inward, but her powerful and descriptive prose really shook me. She can describe the sensation of the light that breaks through a window pane or the way the wind sounds without injecting her own feelings or nostalgia in it. It’s amazing.
I also love that she doesn’t apologize for women’s sexuality and desire. But at the same time, the women in the book who desired and acted upon their desire were ultimately punished.
Watch our full conversation in the video below. (Warning: I accidentally cursed and was a bit embarrassed at first, but then I realized that we were talking about sex and intimacy. There was no need to be precious!) And then pick up a copy of Three Women, if you haven’t read it yet.
